‘Africa Is Not A Test Lab’ Nose Masks Goes Viral – Here Is Chimzi Fashion’s Response To France
African print trend-setting US-based Nigerian brand unleashes a fierce set of nose masks that are bound to make enemies of Africa break their necks. The brand recently put out the ‘Africa Is Not A Testing Ground’ tagged nose mask in response to the racist.
On A TV show in France, Jean-Paul Mira said “It may be provocative. Should we not do this study in Africa where there are no masks, no treatment or intensive care, a little bit like it’s been done for certain AIDS studies, where among prostitutes, we try things, because we know that they are highly exposed and don’t protect themselves?”
The comments were made on the French television channel, LCI, during a discussion on Wednesday about COVID-19 trials set to be launched in Europe and Australia to see if the BCG tuberculosis vaccine could be used to treat the virus. And without a doubt, the comment sparked a race row.
Celebrities like Didier Drogba was one of the first inline to speak out against the atrocious comments in a tweet that stated ‘Africa isn’t a testing lab’.
It is totally inconceivable we keep on cautioning this.
Africa isn’t a testing lab.
I would like to vividly denounce those demeaning, false and most of all deeply racists words.Helps us save Africa with the current ongoing Covid 19 and flatten the curve. pic.twitter.com/41GIpXaIYv

This comment highly resonated with all Africans offended by the insult and one designer Chimzi Fashion has taken it upon herself to put her activism into work. The brand was quick to turn Drogba’s iconic comment into a nose mask as seen below.
Chimzi Fashion has definitely been a key player in the trendsetting of African fashion. They were amongst the first brands to really put African print flat hats into fashion, of which we later saw the great Beyonce adopt.
We obviously can’t attribute African print nose masks to their creativity, but we can definitely say they do make it look good. See their print masks below and if you need to get your hands on one, visit www.chimzi.com.
