Agogo: Man Stabs Wife Over Food
A 55-year-old man has stabbed his wife at Ananekrom in Agogo over a misunderstanding the two had on the eve of May 16, 2020.
The culprit whose name has been given as Yaw Amakye Peprah Joseph is said to have stabbed his wife, Gladys Oforiwaa during a prolonged misunderstanding between the two.
Reports gathered by Salt 95.9 FM indicates that the misunderstanding between the couple was over food meant for the husband in the evening.
Events took another turn after the victim took her bath and entered the couple’s room. According to the police, her husband followed her into the room where he is believed to have stabbed the victim.
The misunderstanding continued in the room till the woman screamed that ‘he has killed me’. The husband came out running followed by the wife who collapsed in the yard of the compound with blood oozing from the arm pit.”
The victim was rushed to Ananekrom health centre where she was later referred to Agogo Presbyterian Hospital for further treatment but was declared dead on arrival.
According to the police, the culprit fled the scene when he realised what he had done. The police added he did not know his wife had died after stabbing her.
The Agogo District Police has arrested the culprit from his hideout based on information given them by two Journalists with Salt 95.9 FM. The murder weapon has also been retrieved.
Upon his arrest the culprit confessed to committing the crime but said he was under the influence of alcohol.
Yaw Amakye is currently being detained by the police to assist in further investigations.
The victims body has been deposited at Agogo Presbyterian Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
