Naa Ashorkor Tests Positive For Covid-19
Radio and television personality, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku has tested positive for Covid-19.
She made the announcement on her social media pages on Monday, October 19.
According to the Asaase FM presenter, she was not feeling well on Thursday, October 15, and decided to go for a Covid-19 test and the result came out positive.
She posted;
“Hello Family,
After not feeling “like myself”, on Thursday night, I did a Covid test and it came out positive.
I am feeling okay, following my doctor’s instructions, and currently self-isolating at home.”
Naa Ashorkor used the opportunity to urge people to observe the various safety protocols because coronavirus is real.
“The virus is real. It is still out there. Don’t forget all the safety protocols. Wear your mask at all times. Wash your hands with soap under running water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Stay safe. Covid is still out there,” her post read.
Naa Ashorkor is not the only high profile media personality to have tested positive for Covid-19. Earlier this year, Joy FM’s sports presenter, Gary Al-Smith tested positive along with Joy News’ Fred Smith.
In his 18th update to the country on Sunday, October 18 on measures being taken against the coronavirus, President Akufo-Addo stated that active Covid-19 cases in Ghana as of Friday, October 16 were 398.
He said 46,664 persons have also fully recovered from the virus, putting Ghana’s recovery rate at 98.5 percent. However, 13 more deaths had been recorded bringing the total number of deaths to 310.
“When you take a close look at the measures some other countries are having to take, including imposing night-time curfews and partial lockdowns, declaring state of emergencies, limiting the number of people permitted at public gatherings and mandatorily fining persons for not wearing masks, all in the bid to contain the second wave of the virus, we, in Ghana have been spared all these developments and restrictions. We must thus be doing something right.
“In fact, our favourable situation at the moment is thanks to the effectiveness of government policies, the co-operation of you, the Ghanaian people, and, ultimately to the grace of God,” President Akufo-Addo said.
In spite of the progress the country is making in fighting the disease, concerns have been raised about the flagrant disregard of the protocols by many Ghanaians.
Now many people have stopped wearing their face masks while hand washing is not being enforced like it used to be.
