President Calls For Interdiction Of Security Agent For Assaulting A Soldier
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Tuesday instructed the Ministry of National Security to interdict, with immediate effect, Gerard Osei-Tutu, an officer with the Bureau of National Communications, National Security Secretariat.
Mr Osei-Tutu is said to have assaulted WO1 Mashud Salia of the Ghana Armed Forces on Wednesday, November 25,2020 on the Tema-Akosombo highway.
A statement signed and issued by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Tuesday, said a full-scale investigation had begun into the matter.
The statement said, “The military constitutes a key player in the country’s security architecture. Any infringement on the institution and its officers will not be tolerated.”
It said President Akufo-Addo expressed dismay over the attack on the soldier and urged the authorities concerned to expedite investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Military High Command had expressed disgust over the assault of WOI Mashud Salia by the security agent, the GNA gathered.
WOI Salia was reportedly assaulted by some plain-clothed personnel of the Bureau of National Communications of the National Security Council around Tulaku Junction, on the Tema-Akosombo highway in the Greater Accra Region.

The bizarre incident has been condemned by both the Ministry of Defence and the Military High Command.
The Sector Ministry of National Security has, in a similar vein, condemned the actions of the personnel involved.
The Deputy National Security Minister, Mr Henry Quartey and the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen Obed Boamah Akwa, have at an emergency durbar held over the weekend, also apologised to the victim and the Ghana Armed Forces.
