Thousands Of Diasporans Throng Ghana For The 2022 Afrochella Festival

The 5th edition of the annual Afrochella festival took place on 28 and 29th of December 2022 at El Wak Stadium.

Afrochella Festival is a celebration of Africa’s diverse culture and the vibrant work of art showcased by the continent’s emerging creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs.

The theme for this year’s festival is “AfroFuturism,” a term created to reflect on the past, explore the future and create a progressive path for the present African diaspora.

To bring “AfroFuturism” to life, Afrochella’s music festival was transformed to include several cultural concepts – all created to take a foray into the future of art, music, fashion, culture and food.

Thousands of revelers traveled to Ghana and participated in the event, making Afrochella the premier festive celebration in Ghana during Christmas.

Artiste line up for the two-day event included Burna Boy, Shatta Wale, Kidi, Asake, Medikal, Kwasi Arthur, Gyakie, Kofi Kinaata, Tinny, Praye and others.

In his open speech ahead of the festival, Kenny Agyapong Jr., Co-Founder of Afrochella noted that as one of the most celebrated cultural moments in Ghana, they have the exciting challenge of bringing 20,000 travelers to the country and make Ghana the premier destination for all travelers around the world.

Afrochella festival has become the hottest festival in December in Ghana, bringing thousands of diasporans from around the world to the continent to celebrate the nations rich culture and connect the root of diasporans to the motherland.

The festival further enables participants to explore the possibilities of contributing to the development of Africa.

The festival has over the last five years grown and attracted thousands of patrons beyond Ghana further bolstering the tourism industry in Ghana.
