AfroFuture, Mayekoo Embark On Beach Cleanup Exercise

The story of plastic pollution in Ghana is not different from others as the country struggle to save the environment from this menace.

Mayekoo is a sweepstakes-driven, crowdfunding platform that engages the global community to fund essential projects in developing nations by improving healthcare, education, environmental sustainability and more.

AfroFuture and Mayekoo, on 27th December, 2023, organized a beach cleanup exercise at the Labadi and Laboma beach to raise awareness in protecting our coastal zone from plastic pollution.

The event saw lots of volunteers to support the initiative of keeping our beaches clean from plastic pollution so as to promote the tourism sector as well.

According Gifty Boakye, who is the leader of AfroFuture foundation said, last year someone posted a video of December in Ghana with festivals and complain about the pollution of the beaches and this led to partner with Mayekoo in this beach cleaning exercise.

She said this is the main tourist attraction in Ghana and needed to be clean at all time. Gifty was satisfied with the result at the end of the cleanup exercise because she said in partnership with Mayekoo, the volunteers were double and people are giving back to their community by spending few hours in cleaning the beach.
