Ejura Road Accident: Six NDC Supporters Killed
Some supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were attending a political rally at Ejura in the Ashanti Region and were involved in a road accident have died.
Others, numbering about 50 are responding treatment at the hospital.
The accident happened on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Frante near Ejura.
They were attending the political rally which was to be addressed by the presidential candidate of the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama.
The driver of the truck which was transporting them attempted to swerve a pothole on the road and reportedly lost control over the vehicle which somersaulted.
Graphic Online’s reporter, Kester Aburam Korankye who is with the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama campaign team reports from Ejura in the Ashanti Region that Mr Mahama has since visited the supporters who were involved in the accident while attending the rally at Ejura.
The accident, which occurred Saturday afternoon at Frante, a town near Ejura in thr Ashanti Region, killed six people and injured about 50 others.
Mr Mahama visited the surviving victims at the Ejura District Hospital as soon as he arrived in Ejura.
In addition to wishing the injured well, the former President said promised them that the party would take care of their hospital bills.
He was accompanied by the National Chairman of the party, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the National Campaign Chairman of the NDC, Professor Joshua Alabi, and some other members of his campaign team.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr Mate Kojo Njourkone, told Graphic Online in an interview that the victims of the accident were attending a rally at Ejura which the former President was scheduled to attend.
