Five dead in gory accident at Tano-Odumase

A tragic road accident at Tano-Odumase, near Agona in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region, has claimed the lives of five people.

The incident occurred late on Thursday, October 9, 2025, and involved a VIP bus and a Hyundai Elantra.

In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the Agona Fire Station received a distress call about the collision and promptly dispatched a rescue team to the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that the VIP bus, with registration number GT 6475-20, was traveling from Ejura to Sogakope in the Volta Region, while the Hyundai Elantra, registered AW 6538-11, was heading from Kona to Tano-Odumase.

The two vehicles reportedly collided head-on, leaving five of the six occupants in the Hyundai car dead on the spot.

The sole survivor was rescued by firefighters and transported to the Agona Government Hospital for treatment.

Fire officers retrieved the bodies of the deceased and handed them over to the Ghana Police Service at the scene for further investigation and identification.

Fortunately, none of the passengers on board the VIP bus sustained injuries, though the vehicle suffered minor damage. The Hyundai Elantra, however, was completely mangled beyond repair.

Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
