Friday, July 3 declared public holiday

The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, July 3, 2026, a public holiday, following the Republic Day, July 1, falling on Wednesday. 

A statement signed by Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister of the Interior, therefore, urged the public to observe the day as such throughout the country. 

“The public is hereby informed that Friday, July 3, 2026, marks Republic Day, which is a statutory public holiday,” it said. 

The statement explained that although Republic Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, President of the Republic of Ghana, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), and in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601), as amended, had declared Friday, July 3, as a public holiday.
