The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the departure of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.
This comes after Black Stars suffered backtoback friendly defeats against Germany and Austria.
The GFA said in a statement that it “sincerely thanks Otto Addo for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best in his future endeavours”.
It added, “The GFA will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.”
Otto Addo was reappointed in March 2024 for a second spell in charge of the Black Stars after previously serving as head coach in 2022.
His second tenure saw Ghana secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup but couldn’t secure qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Ghana international, during his first stint, combined national team duties with a talent development role at German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
He resigned from the Ghana job in December 2022 after the Black Stars exited the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the group stage.
With FIFA setting the May 30, 2026, deadline for national teams to announce their squad, the GFA would be under pressure to announce a new coach in the coming days.
