Miss Ghana At 64 – The Journey So Far

Since it’s inception in 1957, there is no doubt that the Miss Ghana brand has impacted many lives across the country.

And quite recently it has evolved from being just a beauty pageant into a huge platform where both young men and women in Ghana and beyond are influenced to explore their potentials with the introduction of the Miss Ghana Foundation (MGF).

Graphic Showbiz caught up with the Miss Inna Maryam Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events Ghana, current organisers of the beauty pageant and she threw more light on some of the achievements of the brand over the years.

Achievements

According to her, the Miss Ghana brand has most of the years of being in existence provided a representative at the annual Miss World pageant.

She said the MGF in partnership with the National Petroleum Authority constructed a mechanised borehole for the people of Nabuli in the Gushegu District of the Northern Region.

“Also, in the health sector, contestants have served as ambassadors of the National Blood Bank and helped to encourage the populace to donate blood voluntarily and frequently through various blood drives and sensitisation workshops.

“We have also through MGF raised funds to sponsor cost of corrective surgeries for children suffering from spinal deformities known as Scoliosis at the FOCOS Hospital as well as protect the goal campaign with UNAIDs.

“That is not all but the MGF has held feminine hygyiene clinics in partnership with Tobinco Pharmaceuticals and the Embassy of France. We have also embarked on burili ulcer and infant maternal mortality campaigns”, she said.

Under education, Miss Patty revealed there has been women in IT programmes with IPMC, mentorships across Senior High Schools and provision of educational scholarships.

Food, clothing and medical supplies as well as medical health checks have been provided for orphanages as well as the aged.

“In recent times, the global pandemic has once again seen the MGF jump to action by enhancing awareness of the recent disease, providing PPEs to communities and igniting hope to the needy”, she added.
