A motor rider has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with abduction and defilement.
Abel Ansah is alleged to have detained the 15-year-old female victim for three days and unlawfully defiled her at Pantang Village in Accra on August 23, 2025.
Ansah, in the company of his counsels, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court has admitted him to GHC100,000 bail with two sureties.
It further ordered the prosecution to file and serve the court and defence counsels with their disclosures and witness statements.
The matter has been adjourned to November 27 for Case Management Conference.
The complainant is the older sister of the victim, and they both reside at Pantang Village, the prosecution told the court.
The accused person is a commercial motor rider, residing at Nyamebeykyere, near Adukrom Akuapim in the Eastern Region and he is the victim’s boyfriend.
Prosecution held that on August 26, this year, the complainant reported to the “Missing Persons” Unit at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters that her sister had left home for three days and had not returned.
The complainant said on August 23 about 1700 hours, she returned from work and detected that the victim had left home to an unknown place and all efforts to locate her proved futile.
The court heard that on August 27, 2025 the victim’s older brother, who was also searching for her, had found her (victim) at Akuapim Mamfe and handed her over to the Unit.
Investigations disclosed that the victim completed Junior High School this year at Saforo in the Eastern Region, after which she came to live with the complainant at Pantang Village.
Prosecution said on August 23, 2025, Ansah communicated with the victim on phone to visit him at Nyamebekyere and sent her money for transport.
The victim left the house as soon as the complainant also left for work and she travelled to Nyamebeyere, spending three days with Ansah.
The victim switched off her mobile phone, so her family was unable to reach her. She revealed that during her stay with Ansah, they both had sexual intercourse.
A police medical form was issued to the complainant to seek medical treatment for the victim.
On August 28, 2025, the complainant returned the medical report endorsed by a medical doctor of the Police Hospital, which established “fierce penetration into the victim’s vagina.”
On September 3, 2025, the Station officer of Amanfrom Police Station, based on the request of Missing Persons Unit, arrested Ansah and handed him over to the Unit.
He admitted the offence in his caution statement.
