There was a multiple-vehicle crash at the Ofankor barrier area in Accra on the express lane of N6-highway Thursday dawn, resulting in 11 deaths, and 13 injuries.
According to the Ghana National Service Fire (GNFS), several others were also injured.
The vehicles involved were two tipper trucks, a minibus and a tricycle (aboboyaa).
The crash occurred on the N6 highway express lane from the Pokuase side, heading towards Achimota, at about 4 am.
It resulted in a heavy morning vehicle traffic congestion in that area.
The police moved in to direct vehicular traffic onto the outer service lane.
Personnel from the fire service and the police were at the scene to rescue the injured and maintain law and order.
Some victims were trapped in the black minibus, which was badly mangled.
As of 8:45 am, personnel from the GNFS had successfully extricated all trapped victims from the black minibus.
