Music as a Catalyst: Sista Afia advocates unity among musicians for social change

Ghanaian songstress Sista Afia, has encouraged musicians to collaborate and embark on developmental projects that empower communities and drive social change.

She believes music should go beyond recording songs in the studio to making a positive community impact.

The celebrated female artiste, also the founder of the “Sista Cooks” Foundation, has over the years fed thousands of vulnerable children and women across the country.

In an interview with GNA Entertainment, the “Weather” hitmaker stressed the importance of Ghanaian musicians joining forces to give back to society and help transform the lives of the underprivileged.

“I think as musicians we can contribute more when we come together as a group and help society in so many ways. We can help schools, persons with disabilities, and the vulnerable in society.

“Being a musician shouldn’t be about writing songs and going to record in studios, but we need to positively impact society.

“So, I think it is best we all come together and embark on this journey,” she said.

Sista Afia, who made waves with her “Two Things” single last year featuring Amerado, has released her first single for 2025 titled “Kreketesoja”.

Asked about the inspiration behind her new single, she said the song was about personal experiences and how she dealt with people.

“A lot has been said about me, and as a musician, the best way to respond was through music. So that was what inspired me to release this project, which featured another seasoned song writer, Amerado.

“I urge all my fans to stream the song and use the videos across various social media platforms, and I really appreciate their support,” she said.

The new song, since its release, has racked up impressive streaming numbers and is gradually rising to the charts across various streaming platforms.

With over a decade spent in the music industry, Sista Afia has risen to become one of the top female artistes in the country, headlining some major events.
