Nana Ama McBrown Tops 2020 GOWA Nominations
She is a favourite of many and for almost two decades, actress Nana Ama McBrown has worked very hard to remain relevant on the entertainment scene.
Her United Showbiz and McBrown’s Kitchen shows on UTV have also unearthed her talent as a television presenter and made her a force to reckon with in the field.
It is, therefore, not surprising that she has gotten the highest nominations at this year’s Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA). She has been nominated in the Outstanding Woman in Film, Outstanding Woman Brand Influencer, Outstanding Woman TV Personality and the ultimate Outstanding Woman of the Year categories.
The Sidechic Gang actress is facing tough competition from presenter/entrepreneur Deloris Frimpong Manso and actress Joselyn Dumas in the ultimate Woman of the Year and Outstanding Woman TV Personality categories.
Other categories to be awarded are Outstanding Woman Radio Personality, Outstanding Woman Brand Influencer, Outstanding Woman in Agribusiness and Shero of the Year.
Organised by ASKOF Productions, GOWA is a humanitarian initiative to honour and award women making significant progress and impact in their various fields.
For three years, the awards ceremony has recognised and awarded notable names such as events organiser Mimi Andani; radio presenter Ohemaa Woyeje; actress Fella Makafui; media personality Afia Pokua; singer Stephanie Benson, actress Martha Ankomah and media personality Akumaa Mama Zimbi.
According to Mrs Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the Chief Executive Officer of ASKOF Productions, the event acknowledges game-changers in their respective fields of endeavour, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Afia Pokua won the ultimate award at the maiden event in 2018, with fashion designer Velma Owusu-Bempah picking the topmost prize last year.
Nana Ama McBrown has remained one of the most consistent celebrities in the Ghanaian entertainment scene.
Her popularity has soared in the last couple of years and aside from acting and hosting shows on television, she is a brand ambassador for a number of products including Tasty Tom Tomato Mix, Hisense, Softcare Baby Diapers, Roma Insecticide Spray among others.
Her talent also extends to singing and she has performed at a number of events and sings regularly on her United Showbiz show.
She is married to Maxwell Mensah and they have a daughter Maxine Mawusi Mensah who turned one this year.
