National Cocoa Farmers Association commends government for price increase

The Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA), has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the Government and COCOBOD for the recent GHC400 increase in the producer price of cocoa.

The increment meant that cocoa prices are now GHC3,628.75 per 64-kilogram bag for the 2025/2026 season.

A statement issued by Mr Augustine Ackah, the Secretary for the Association, commended the government’s commitment to addressing farmers’ concerns, enhancing profitability, and ensuring the sustainability of cocoa farming for future generations.

The statement noted that the price increase would significantly reduce the trend of farmers smuggling their cocoa to neighbouring countries in search of better prices.

It, however, urged the government to address outstanding issues, including limited farmer representation on the COCOBOD and welfare obligations as mandated by PNDC Law 81.

“GNACOFA is ready to collaborate with the government and COCOBOD to comprehensively address cocoa sector issues, ensuring it remains a source of pride and prosperity for generations to come,” the statement noted.
