Nigerian murder suspect arrested by police in Akwatia

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national suspected of murdering a woman and her daughter in Nigeria before fleeing to Ghana to evade arrest.

The suspect, identified by police as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was apprehended following intelligence-led operations triggered by a viral video circulating online. The video alleged that he had abducted and killed a woman who worked with Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to the police, the Nigerian authorities had been searching for the suspect, who fled to Ghana and took refuge with friends in Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia.

Acting on the information, the Eastern South Regional Police Command moved swiftly to track down the suspect. A targeted intelligence operation led officers to his hideout, where he was arrested without incident.

Fejemirokum is currently in police custody as arrangements are being made to hand him over to Nigerian authorities to face prosecution.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour or individuals within their communities to help prevent crime.

The Command assured residents that sustained operations are underway to curb criminal activities in the region.
