No GH Record Label Can Handle Me – Feli Nuna
RECORD labels are essential for a musician; not only does it inject the much needed financial support into the artiste’s career, it gives that artiste credibility.
However, Afropop artiste, Felicia Nuna Akosua Tawiah popularly known as Feli Nuna says record labels in Ghana are not meant for her.
“I have had two experiences with record labels in Ghana. I was signed to Lynx Entertainment at the beginning of my music career but I didn’t like the direction they wanted to go so I had to leave.
“Then, there was mismanagement at my second record label, the Beehyve Entertainment so I parted ways with them too.
“Although I am with my third record label, Tic Entertainment, I believe Ghanaian record labels are just not meant for me. My talent is too big for them to handle and it’s about time I looked for an international record label to handle me,” she told Showbiz in an interview on Tuesday, April 16.
According to her, although record labels played major roles in a musician’s career, she will not just jump onto any label because she has to push her career to the next level.
“I know the direction I want to go with my music, so I am very careful who I work with. I do positive music and very soon Ghanaians will know what I am talking about.
“It takes a talented artiste to rap and sing at the same time, I can do almost every genre of music and that makes me unique,” she stated.
Known for songs such as Awola, I like Am, Love Me Now among others, Feli Nuna also shared her thoughts on ‘beefing’ in the industry and said the practice must not be encouraged.
“Beefs are not necessary in the entertainment industry because they don’t promote positivity. We need positivity to go higher so that we can push Ghanaian music out there.
“I know some people will disagree with me and say beefing makes the industry entertaining but that is not cool,” she said.
Feli Nuna joined the Lynx Entertainment in 2010 and left a year after. She released Ghana Girl Swagwhile with the label.
She participated in the Miss Ghana beauty pageant in 2010.
