No More Collabo With Gospel Acts – Joyce Blessing
WHILE some in the Gospel music fraternity believe it is not biblical for gospel musicians to collaborate with secular acts, there are still others who believe it is all in furtherance of God’s work and the I Swerve You hitmaker, Joyce Blessing, may fall in the latter category.
The award-winning Gospel artiste, who plans on working with Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, says she is done with featuring gospel artistes on her works.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, October 1, Joyce Blessing said she preferred to work with secular musicians and had vowed not to feature any Gospel musician on her songs because of her observation about them over the years.
“Apart from some Gospel musicians refusing to work with me when I reached out to them, the lifestyle of most of them are nothing to write home about. They actually don’t practice what they preach,” she said.
Joyce Blessing said her decision to work with secular artistes was a well thought out plan by her management after seeing how hypocritical some of the Gospel musicians were.
“It is sad that your fellow gospel musician will stab you in the back when they should rather be there for you. At least, most of the secular artistes I know are not hypocrites like the gospel musicians and I will choose any secular artiste any day,” she added.
The Heavy Price hitmaker also stated that there was nothing wrong with a Gospel musician collaborating with a secular musician to achieve a common goal.
“I have in the past featured the likes of A.B Crentsil, Lilwin and the late Jewel Ackah on my songs and trust me, the impact I had was just marvellous.
“This is not to say I have not featured Gospel musicians on my songs but moving forward, with what I have observed, I think I will stick to working with secular musicians,” she explained.
Known for songs such as Nyame Aguamma, Repent, Heavy Price, Boot 4 Boot, I Swerve You and La’ Mia Praise, Joyce Blessing said she was planning on working with more secular artiste.
“I know some Ghanaians will have problems with that but hey, I don’t really mind if my aim is to win souls for God through these secular artistes,” she said.
Joyce Blessing will be releasing her latest single, Adam Nana, recorded by sound engineer, Kaywa tomorrow, Friday, October 4.
The song talks about God’s love for his children which led to Him letting His son die on the cross for them.
