Nollywood Is Not A Safe Place For Young Girls – Regina Daniels
Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has said that Nigeria’s movie industry is not safe for young girls and urge producers to discourage the act of employing minors.
Daniels, who also doubles as a film producer, gave the advice on her Instagram page recently where she encouraged celebrities, and movie producers, to say no to child labour and keep the industry secure.
“I met a 14-year-old girl wearing a short skirt, crop top and working under another young guy on the movie set who claims to be a make-up artist. Her parents are far away in Port Harcourt and she came to Lagos last year.
“She sleeps in different hotel rooms with whoever agrees to accommodate her every night and is not willing to go back to her parents. This girl told me that she is here to learn but trust me, I know the industry and it is not a safe place for young girls,” she stated.
Regina’s husband, Chinedu Nwoko, was on Monday, February 27 declared the winner of the Delta North Senatorial District seat in Delta, Nigeria following its general elections on Saturday, February 25.
Mr Nwoko, also known as Ned Nwoko, scored a total of 92,514 votes to win the elections that took place on Saturday in Nigeria.
He defeated the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr Kennedy Kanma, who got 86,121 votes and the incumbent and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi, who polled 36,816 votes.
The popular actress has since then thanked the electorates for honouring her husband.
