One dead, four injured after VIP bus crashes into faulty truck on Accra–Kumasi Highway

One person has died, while four others have been injured after a Kia VIP Grandbird bus crashed into a faulty MAN diesel truck on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.

The accident occurred at Frimpongso, where firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station were called to the scene to rescue passengers trapped in the damaged bus.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 29, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said its personnel successfully extricated two trapped occupants and assisted in transporting victims to a health facility for medical attention.

One male victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital, while four others sustained injuries from the crash.

Preliminary investigations by the rescue team indicate that the accident happened when the VIP bus collided with the rear of a faulty truck that had been parked along the roadside.

The bus, according to the GNFS, was attempting to overtake when it crashed into the stationary truck, resulting in extensive damage to the front section of the vehicle.

Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
