Rihanna To Create Luxury Brand With Louis Vuitton, First Black Woman To Do So
With the huge success that the fashion house enjoyed after signing on Ghanaian-American designer Virgil Abloh as their creative director, it seems Louis Vuitton is on to bigger things and has its eyes set on multiple award-winning singer, actress, makeup mogul and fashion designer Rihanna.
According to WWD, Rihanna is set to release a luxury line brand with
Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH) which will be the first time Chief Executive officer, Bernard Arnault, will launch a brand under the parent company of Louis Vuitton from scratch since Christian Lacroix in 1987.
With the look of things, it is evident that Rihanna has not dominated as many industries and spaces as she wants and has her eyes still set on the price. From being named as Ambassador with the specific duty of promoting education, tourism and investment for Barbados, Rihanna is set to become the first Black woman to create a Luxury Brand with Loius Vuitton, the world’s biggest fashion brand.
There is no other celebrity to make the Black Girl Magic spell more compelling than Robyn Rihanna Fenty who has dominated the entertainment and fashion industry for several years.
The Rihanna and Louis Vuitton brand, which is yet to be named, is still in its early stage as it is reported that Louis Vuitton has picked employees to work on the collection.
Speculations on what the luxury brand is about, have already started spreading with the most popular rumour being that the line might be luxury sunglasses as Rihanna was spotted rocking a pair of shades with
“Fenty” emblazoned across the side.
Knowing Rihanna, the sunglasses might just be a distraction to make the surprise even bigger when the line is released later this year.
Rihanna was in the news recently for suing her own father. According to the Guardian, Rihanna has filed a lawsuit against her father, Ronald Fenty, in a dispute over the use of the Fenty name by their respective companies. The lawsuit states that Fenty and another man “have egregiously and fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company is affiliated with Rihanna, and has the authority to act on her behalf.”
The new fashion deal comes as an ice breaker for many after the awkward family feud brewing between Rihanna and her father.
