Tema: Police on manhunt for suspected robbers who attacked and killed British national

‎The Tema Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a 68-year-old man during a robbery attack at a drinking spot opposite the Tema Community 9 cemetery on Friday, November 7, 2025.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate the deceased, identified as a British national, was in the company of others when six young men arrived at the location on two motorbikes.

‎A police statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Dede Dzakpasu said two‎‎ of the assailants approached the group, and one snatched the victim’s mobile phone from the table.

‎She said when the victim attempted to retrieve his phone, one of the attackers shot him before the gang fled the scene on their motorbikes.

‎The Police said the victim was rushed to the Tema General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 9mm spent shell was retrieved from the scene and has since been processed for evidential purposes.

‎She further indicated that witnesses have been interviewed to assist with ongoing investigations, adding that efforts were underway to contact the British High Commission to officially notify them of the death of their national.

‎She gave the assurance that efforts were being made to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.
