Two dead, Several injured in Cape Coast–Takoradi highway crash

Two people died on Tuesday morning in a road traffic accident at Abakam on the Cape Coast–Takoradi N1 highway.

The dawn crash involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 2455-25 and a Sprinter bus with registration number WR 316-24.

Firefighters from the Elmina Fire Station responded after receiving a distress call at 5:11 am. Upon arrival, they secured the scene, cleared debris from the roadway, and helped restore the free flow of traffic to prevent secondary accidents.

A total of 14 victims were affected. Four were rushed to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital, where two later succumbed to their injuries. The remaining 10 victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision.
