IGP promotes 30 officers for exemplary performance

Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Inspector-General of Police, has promoted 30 officers for exemplary performance during two major operations.

A police brief said the officers demonstrated professionalism, vigilance and commitment during operations that led to the retrieval of 2,600 AK-47 rounds at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier in the Ashanti Region.

They were also credited with dismantling a robbery syndicate along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.

Those promoted in connection with the Kantanso Asankare operation included Chief Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel, General Lance Corporal Saeed Frimpong, and General Constable Sremsei Simon.

The others were Constable Kissi Dorcas Serwaah. Others were General Constables Arthur Emmanuel Nkrumah, Dennis Danquah, Philip Lawer Nyarko, Owusu Kenneth, and Christian Buaben Kwadzo Addo.

The brief said the officers conducted a thorough search of a bus at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier and uncovered two concealed containers holding 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, as well as a bag under the driver’s seat containing two bulletproof plates, a black crash helmet and a pair of long boots.

It said that 20 personnel from the Intelligence Department of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were also promoted for intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom and surrounding areas.

Those operations reportedly resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery activities, and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters.

The brief said the IGP and members of the Police Management Board commended the officers for their courage and alertness, noting that their actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into criminal hands.

It said Mr Yohuno encouraged all personnel to continue to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, and assured them that the Police Administration would acknowledge, appreciate and reward hard work.
