Over 60 PWDs receive livelihood support in Asante-Akim South

A total of 61 Persons with Disabilities in Asante-Akim South Municipality, have received various forms of livelihood support, as part of efforts to promote inclusive development and economic empowerment.

Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) supervised the exercise, which saw the distribution of a range of startup kits and essential equipment aimed at supporting income-generating activities among beneficiaries.

Items distributed included funds to support small businesses, refrigerators, sewing machines, hairdryers, fufu pounding machines, and other tools tailored to the specific vocational needs of the recipients.

The MCE emphasised the importance of empowering PWDs with sustainable economic opportunities rather than short-term support.

She noted that the initiative aligned with government policy on social protection and inclusive governance and reaffirmed the Assembly’s resolve to ensure that no segment of society was left behind in the municipality’s development agenda.

Some of the recipients expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly for the timely intervention, describing it as a significant boost to their economic activities and a demonstration of the Assembly’s concern for the welfare of PWDs.
