Police arrest 3 more suspects in killing of Indian national; Recover iPhone buried in bush

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three additional suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Sain Devendra Kumar, an Indian national whose body was discovered on April 26, 2026, with multiple stab wounds in the boot of his abandoned vehicle on the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The arrests, made on April 29-30, 2026, following sustained intelligence operations in Kumasi, bring the total number of persons in custody for the murder to four. The newly arrested suspects are Osman Moro alias Thiago, aged 20; Akum Kojo Junior; Moro Sule alias Moro Aboboyaa; and John Adoko alias Carter.

According to police sources, suspect Akum Kojo Junior has admitted to the murder. In his confession, he disclosed that on April 24, 2026, he went to the deceased’s workplace, where he disconnected and replaced the closed-circuit television camera server with the assistance of suspect Moro Sule.

Akum Kojo Junior then led police to Daban New Site in Kumasi, where the CCTV server was successfully retrieved from its concealed location.

The suspect further disclosed that he had taken possession of the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max and Tecno mobile phones following the killing. He later gave the iPhone to suspect Osman Moro alias Thiago at Kaase, and the Tecno mobile phone to suspect Moro Sule.

Acting on this information, police proceeded to Kaase in Kumasi, where Osman Moro was identified and arrested. The suspect then led officers to a nearby bush, where the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, wrapped in a brown envelope and covered with fresh leaves, was recovered from a hole he had dug in the ground.

Investigations were extended to Aprabong near Dompoase, a suburb of Kumasi, where suspect Moro Sule was arrested. The deceased’s Tecno mobile phone was retrieved from him. Moro Sule was identified by Akum Kojo Junior as the individual who assisted in replacing the CCTV camera server at the victim’s workplace.

All suspects are currently in police custody. The recovered exhibits, including the CCTV server, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the Tecno mobile phone, have been retained for evidential purposes.

Police have disclosed that efforts are actively underway to arrest two other suspects mentioned in connection with the case: one identified only as Zuzu Adrama, described as the killer, and Vipul Jetpur Vijay, known as Taruu.

The murder of the Indian national has raised concerns among the foreign business community in the Ashanti Region, though police have assured that significant progress has been made in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
