Six injured, two dead in crash on Accra–Kumasi Highway

Two people have died and six others sustained injuries in a road crash at Dr. Marbel Junction on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and involved a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus with registration number ER 195-24 and a tricycle with registration number M-25-AS-8071.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to the incident and rescued one person who was trapped under the DAF truck.

The rescued victim was subsequently transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the DAF truck suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the Sprinter bus.

The impact reportedly caused the Sprinter bus to collide with the parked tricycle.

The tricycle was completely destroyed, while the DAF truck and Sprinter bus sustained partial damage.

The GNFS has urged motorists to regularly service and maintain their vehicles and exercise caution on the roads to help reduce road crashes.
