British High Commissioner praises Sarkodie ahead of Rapperholic concert, UK

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, has celebrated award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie ahead of his Rapperholic UK 2026 tour, urging the diaspora community and fans in the UK to attend as the “Landlord” brings the Accra and Kumasi experience to London.

In a post on X, H.E. Rogg expressed his gratitude to Sarkodie for delivering an electrifying performance at the London to Accra Diaspora Mixer, an annual New Year event that celebrates the enduring cultural ties between Ghana and the UK while fostering economic and business opportunities. The event featured a showcase of Ghanaian and UK fashion, including live modelling, a Kente weaving demonstration, and Ghanaian and UK cuisine and beverages.

“A pleasure to host you at the British Residence last night, @sarkodie. Thanks for the great show! Fantastic news that you are taking #RapperholicUk26 to London. As I mentioned: Royal Albert Hall is a spectacular venue…. and the place to be on 6 March!” the High Commissioner wrote.

Sarkodie thrilled the crowd with a set spanning his decade-long career, performing both classic hits and recent chart-toppers. He was joined on stage by Ghanaian music sensation Camidoh, blending Ewe-pidgin hits with Sarkodie’s signature punchy lyrics, giving the audience a memorable performance.

The event, which also highlighted Ghanaian tourism and culture, was attended by high-profile figures, including the Deputy Minister of Tourism, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority,Yussif Issaka Jajah, Maame Efua Houadjeto, Deputy CEO Abeiku Aggrey Santana, the Director-General of the Ghana Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, celebrity chef Chef Abbys, and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, the British High Commissioner thanked patrons, government officials, creative industry players, and the diaspora community for attending, noting that such events help to deepen creative, economic, and educational ties between the two nations.

Sarkodie’s Rapperholic UK concert, which will bring Ghanaian Independence Day celebrations to the diaspora in London, opens presale tickets tomorrow, with general sales starting on January 9. The event is scheduled to take place at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Diaspora Networking Mixer followed a Bank of Ghana-hosted engagement at the Bank Square, where strategies to boost trade, knowledge, and skill exchange between Ghana and the UK were discussed. The meeting emphasized measures to increase remittances from the UK, which fell by 10.5% in 2025, alongside other initiatives aimed at stabilizing Ghana’s economy.
