Police arrest key suspects in Adabraka gold robbery

The Police Service’s Special Operations Unit has arrested three alleged gang leaders linked to the Adabraka gold robbery, following intelligence-led operations. 

The suspects were arrested on January 19, 2026, in the Ashaiman District after months of sustained surveillance and targeted operations by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Unit. 

They were identified as Nashiru Abubakari, also known as “Soldiar”, Fatao Mohammed, popularly called “Motorway”, and a third suspect known as “50Cent”. 

Police sources said the arrests marked the culmination of meticulous intelligence gathering, monitoring and tactical action aimed at dismantling the criminal network behind the robbery. 

The sources indicated that investigations were ongoing to trace and arrest other accomplices, while efforts were underway to recover exhibits linked to the crime. 

The suspects are currently in police custody and would be processed for court in accordance with the law. 

The Police assured the public of its continued commitment to combating organised crime and ensuring public safety and urged citizens to support law enforcement with credible information.
