Three persons have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Nana Yaw Kyere, a 33-year-old mobile phone dealer, who went missing on September 19, 2026.
The suspects are Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai.
They were arrested following investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit, a statement issued and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer, Public Affairs, said on Monday.
The statement said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, in his Honda Civic vehicle but did not return.
It said investigations further revealed that the victim was allegedly lured by Sarah Adams to a residence belonging to Philip Tefe at Agbeleza.
“Both suspects later confessed to their involvement and indicated that Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries,” the statement said.
“The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died.”
Investigations further established that the victim’s body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the Motorway on September 20, 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.
The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026, the statement said.
On September 24, the victim’s biological mother and uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital Mortuary, it said, adding that “The Police have retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100.”
The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly receiving the phone dishonestly.
The statement said Josiah Obodai was being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body, while his father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which was allegedly used to convey the body, had been impounded.
The three suspects were in Police custody, while efforts were underway to arrest other persons who might have been involved in the case, it added.
