Two remanded in Wa over 192 compressed wraps of cocaine

The Wa District Magistrate Court has remanded two suspects for their alleged involvement in trafficking cocaine.

The suspects are to reappear before the court on October 9, 2026.

The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation, which led to the seizure of 192 compressed wraps of the substance in Wa, Upper West Region.

The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Abdulai Isaac, a driver’s mate, and Iddrisu Kamaldeen, were arrested on September 6, 2026, following intelligence the police received regarding the transportation of suspected cocaine from Kumasi to Wa through the Bole enclave.

The Upper West Regional Police Command, in a statement in Wa, said it mounted surveillance along the suspected route and subsequently intercepted Isaac at the ESP Bus Station in Wa.

The statement said a search in his backpack led to the discovery of 192 newly concealed compressed parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

It added that Iddrisu Kamaldeen was subsequently arrested, and he admitted during interrogation to being a customer of Abdulai Isaac.

“The Police and officers from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Wa, collaborated on 14th September 2026; a field test on exhibits was conducted in the presence of the two suspects, their family members, and the police. The substance tested positive for cocaine”, the statement said.

The Police said investigations were ongoing to locate and arrest other persons mentioned in connection with the narcotic trafficking network.

The Upper West Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting communities, disrupting organised criminal networks and preventing the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs within the Region.
