Weija plant fault disrupts Accra water supply

Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to parts of Accra due to technical challenges at the Weija Water Treatment Plant.

This was contained in a press release issued by Mr Stanley Martey, Communications Director of GWL, and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

It said the situation would disrupt production and distribution, causing interruptions in parts of western Accra.

“As a result of the situation, customers in the following areas may experience erratic water supply and low water pressure: Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa, Ablekuma and surrounding communities,” the statement said.

GWL assured the public that engineers and technical teams were working to rectify the challenges and restore normal supply as early as practicable.

Consumers were advised to store water whenever there is flow in their communities to manage the temporary disruption.

The statement encouraged essential service providers to liaise with their Assembly Members or contact the Ghana Water Limited Call Centre for assistance on 0800 40 000 (Telecel lines only), and on 0302218240, 0207385087, 0207385088, 0207385089, and 0207385090 for all networks.

“Customers may also reach Ghana Water Ltd through all GWL social media handles for further information and updates,” it said.

GWL apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and appealed for calm and cooperation as efforts continue to resolve the supply challenge.
