Lawyer Lom Ahlijah leads Chinese investors for development drive tour in Keta

Mr Lom Ahlijah, lawyer cum businessman, in his effort to attract investment and accelerate development within the Keta Constituency in the Volta Region, has led a delegation of Chinese investors from Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd to the area to explore potential investment opportunities across several strategic sectors.

The visit was part of the move to connect Keta with investors, businesses and development partners capable of enabling unlocking the enormous economic potential of the area and creating sustainable opportunities for its people.

Lawyer Ahlijah, disclosed that the delegation toured several strategic locations across the constituency, including the new Keta Port area, Abutiakope Pond, the floodgates at Kedzi-Havedzi, the Anlo Afiadenyigba salt area, Anyako, Atiavi, Tsiame and others.

“The tour enabled representatives of Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd to obtain first-hand knowledge of the constituency’s natural resources, infrastructure, geographical advantages and potential investment opportunities,” he said.

He further disclosed that particular attention was paid to opportunities associated with the proposed Keta Port and the wider possibilities that the project could create for logistics, industry, trade, infrastructure, and other supporting businesses.

He said the delegation also explored the potential of the salt resources around Anlo Afiadenyigba, examining opportunities for developing the area beyond the extraction of raw salt into processing, value addition and other associated industries.

“At Abitiakope Pond and the floodgates, discussions have been centred on the possibilities presented by Keta’s extensive water resources and the need to pursue investments capable of contributing to both economic activity and the sustainable management of the area’s unique environment.”

Lawyer Ahlijah emphasised that the visit to Anyako, Atiavi and Tsiame further provided the investors with an opportunity to appreciate the broader economic potential of communities beyond Keta township and to consider projects capable of creating employment and stimulating local enterprise.

He said bringing Chongqing Zhanxian Group Limited to Keta Municipal was particularly important, which would attract investment into the constituency that required more than simply talking about its potential and investors must be brought to the area to see the opportunities themselves and engage with local realities.

He stressed that Keta possesses significant assets, including its coastline, lagoon, salt resources, agricultural potential, strategic location and the prospects associated with the proposed port, and the assets must ultimately be translated into businesses, infrastructure, employment and improved livelihoods.

The visit is therefore intended to be the beginning of further engagement with Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd as the company assesses the opportunities identified during the tour and determines areas in which it may have an interest in investing or partnering.

Lawyer Ahlijah has increasingly advocated for a development approach that actively connects the constituency to both local and international investors and development partners, with the objective of positioning Keta as an attractive destination for serious investment that translates into jobs and tangible improvements in the lives of the people.

The visit by Chongqing Zhanxian Group Ltd represents another step in that direction, as stakeholders in Keta look forward to further engagements that could translate the constituency’s natural endowments into concrete development projects.
