Sunyani-based Sompa FM donates food items to 300 widows to usher-in New Year

TeraOne Media, operators of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM on Thursday presented food items to the vulnerable population in the Sunyani Municipality to usher-in the New Year.

Each of the more than 300 beneficiaries, mostly aged widows, drawn from the Sunyani Zongo community as well as farming communities like Abesim, Baakoniaba, Kuotokrom, Wawasua, Yawsae and other deprived communities received a bag of five-kilogram rice, two sardines, two tin tomatoes and an oil.

Speaking in an interview with the media on the side-lines of a presentation ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Aboagye Yaw Boadi, the General Manager of Sompa FM said the station had also presented second
clothing and other items to some orphanage homes as well.

He said besides its core objective of entertaining, informing and educating the masses about the nation’s social intervention and other economic policies and programmes, the FM station was also dedicated to
improve the welfare of the vulnerable in society too.

Looking into 2026, Mr Boadi said: “We remain dedicated to making the masses well informed on policies and programmes and give voices to the voiceless in society”.

He expressed the station’s appreciation to its cherished listeners, promising to develop and execute programmes that would enlighten and empower the masses to make informed decisions in both political and social lives.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the FM station for the kindness and expressed the hope that others stations would emulate and help alleviate the plight of widows and
other vulnerable people as well.

Madam Marima Iddrisu, a beneficiary from Baakoniaba said that: “I am extremely excited for the wonderful package and I am most grateful to the FM station”.

Another beneficiary from Abesim, Mad Theresah Safoaa also thanked the station for the kindness and hoped they that would do more to help alleviate the plights of the widows in society.
