Galaxy International School bags 41 medals in Global Owlypia competition

A 52-member delegation of students, parents and teachers from Galaxy International School has returned from the Owlypia International Competition with a record haul of 41 medals.

It marks the school’s largest-ever participation in the global academic event.

The team, led by the Principal, Mr Jasur Domullojonov, and three teachers, competed from June 14 to June 20, 2026 in London, against top students from around the world, achieving what school authorities described as an unprecedented milestone for Ghanaian education.

The delegation secured a total of 41 medals, comprising 16 gold, 18 silver and seven bronze, alongside several individual and team awards.

Beyond the medal tally, the students excelled in critical thinking, leadership and public speaking categories, earning top global placements.

In the individual category, William Kofi Owusu Opong and Maryam Ruzmetova placed first, while Neina Salsabeela Salim and Pebbles Kistina Nyame-Akyedzi Dadzie came second.

Aseye Adelaide Mawudzro, Jayden Awedanah Tedane Ayipah-Kuti and Isabel Tetebea Bonzoh secured third-place finishes.
In team events, Neina Salsabeela Salim, William Kofi Owusu Opong and Aseye Adelaide Mawudzro won first place in Team Leadership.

On the other hand, Iman Wun-Nam Aminu, Isabel Tetebea Bonzoh and Maryam Ruzmetova also took first place in the Team Quantum Thinkers category.

Maali Pelpuo, Nana Odi Mante Tieku and Frank Dominic Nanko placed second in Team Patience, while Firmine Samira Moukom, Jayden Awedanah Kuti and Moaz Ali finished third in Team Keaf.

The team also received special recognitions, including Proficient Public Speakers awarded to Pheoby Karyn Dadzie, Maali Pelpuo and Jeana Okyere Gyamfi.

Neina Salsabeela Salim, William Kofi Owusu Opong and Aseye Adelaide Mawudzro were named Proficient Debate Team, while Jayden Awedanah Ayipah-Kuti and Abena Amoah Osei Addae earned honours in the Proficient Individual Knowledge Challenge category.

William Kofi Owusu Opong additionally received the Cultural Ambassador Award.

In a statement, the school said the achievement reflected its commitment to academic excellence and global citizenship.

“This outstanding performance at Owlypia not only highlights our students’ individual talents but also reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and global citizenship,” it said.

The school noted that the achievement by Ghana’s largest-ever Owlypia delegation demonstrated the readiness of its students to compete and excel on the global stage.
