AfroFuture Culture Beach Jam: The best side of Detty December in Ghana
AfroFuture, formerly known as Afrochella, is an African music festival platform dedicated to celebrating the diverse culture and work of the diaspora through festivals, live performances, interactive activities, and community engagement.
This year’s festival was dubbed the “AfroFuture Culture Beach Jam” at Accra Polo Beach, marking a change in location from previous years. Revelers were able to enjoy the serene atmosphere of the beach while having fun in the motherland. This is the first time the venue has been moved to a beachfront since the festival began in 2019.
The two-day event, held on December 28 and 29, saw many diasporans from across the globe experiencing the best side of Detty December in Ghana for the first time at AfroFuture Culture Beach Jam.
December in Ghana is often referred to as Detty December because of the numerous fun activities that take place, enjoyed by many in the diaspora. AfroFuture has hosted the best side of Detty December, welcoming people from the Caribbean and other parts of the world.
Carly K., a diasporan from Canada, shared that it was a wonderful experience being in Ghana at this time. She expressed her happiness with the culture, food, weather, and the people around her.
The beach jam showcased the thrilling and thriving diverse talent of millennial African artists.
Some of the artists who performed at the event include King Promise, Joey B, KiDi, Omah Lay, Sabrina, and more.
There were also food vendors and clothing stores featuring a variety of made-in-Ghana products.
Ghana has become a popular destination for diasporans, and AfroFuture is helping make these visitors feel at home by welcoming people from around the world to trace their African heritage and roots in the motherland. This, in turn, contributes to the growth of Ghana and Africa for future generations.
