Free eye screening and cataract surgery for 1,000 people ends in Ellembelle

About 1000 people in the Ellembelle District have been screened for eye related diseases and cataract surgery under the mobile clinic initiative of Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for the area.

Five hundred of the people were diagnosed with cataract.

The-three-week exercise brought together medical experts from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in collaboration with experts at the Saint Martin De Porres Hospital at Eikwe and Daybreak Vision Foundation.

Speaking at the end of the exercise, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah said “I am delighted to announce the successful conclusion of our free eye screening and cataract surgery programme across the three Nzema districts”.

The MP said the vital initiative has successfully delivered quality eye care services directly to the residents who needed it most.

“I am particularly pleased to report that each one successfully received surgical intervention, resulting in the restoration of their vision”, the MP observed.

The remarkable achievement, he said, would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the skilled ophthalmologists, optometrists, and medical personnel from Daybreak Vision Foundation and St. Martin De Pores Hospital”.

Mr Armah-Kofi Buah, who is the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister of Environment Science and Technology, assured the people of Ellembelle and the entire Nzema area of his commitment to their health care needs and general wellness.
