Ghana Marks 77th Anniversary of the Christiansborg Crossroads Shooting
Ghana has commemorated the 77th anniversary of the February 28 Christiansborg Crossroads Shooting incident at the Nationalism Park in Accra.
On Saturday, February 28, 1948, a group of ex-servicemen from the Gold Coast Regiment marched to Christiansborg Castle to present a petition to the colonial authorities, only to be met with gunfire, resulting in the deaths of Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey.

This incident marked a pivotal moment in Ghana’s struggle for independence during the Gold Coast era.
The ceremony included a flag-raising event in honor of the fallen heroes and a wreath-laying ceremony, during which the Vice President, H.E. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana.

The ceremony is held annually on February 28 to remember the sacrifices of the fallen heroes of the Gold Coast Regiment.
