Ghana Water Ltd assures public of improved supply during Christmas, New Year festivities

The Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has assured the public of progressive improvement in water supply during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

This follows recent challenges affecting some communities, particularly in the Greater Accra Metropolis.

The company said it was aware of public concerns over intermittent supply and had intensified corrective measures to stabilise production and distribution as demand peaks during the festive season and the onset of the dry period.

The Company said technical teams and logistics had been deployed to treatment plants nationwide to carry out maintenance works aimed at improving operational efficiency and restoring stable flows to affected areas.

The company said while consumption was expected to rise significantly over the holidays, it remained committed to equitable distribution of treated water to all communities and urged customers to expect gradual improvement in flow, barring unforeseen technical setbacks.

It encouraged the public to follow regular updates on its official communication channels, including notices related to its Water Demand Management Programme, which provides supply schedules to help ensure fair allocation of limited water resources.

As part of conservation efforts, the company urged customers to use water responsibly by fixing leakages promptly, storing water safely for essential use, limiting non-essential activities such as car washing and lawn watering, and reusing water where appropriate.

The public is also being encouraged to report burst mains, leakages and illegal connections for swift response.

Speaking on the interventions, the Managing Director of GWL, Adam Mutawakilu, said management understood the inconvenience caused by recent supply interruptions, especially as households prepared for the festive season.

He said teams were working around the clock to stabilise the system and improve flows to affected communities.

The company advised customers to contact its call centres or customer service offices for further information and verified updates.
