Police arrest content creator Hayford over viral obscene videos posted on Snapchat

The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a 23-year-old student, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, for allegedly publishing obscene material online in breach of Section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

According to a police report issued on Friday, February 27, 2026, the suspect – a popular social media user – was apprehended after officers conducting routine cyber patrol discovered intimate videos circulating on social media involving him.

“The content was posted on Snapchat public account by the above-named @biggforddd123. The recordings involved multiple females, with recordings dating between 2023 and January 26, 2026. The suspect was immediately invited and questioned about the videos, and he admitted to posting the same on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026,” the report said.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly told investigators that the videos were posted in response to a social media trend.

It said the suspect indicated that the videos were shared as part of a TikTok challenge known as “Auntie Shakira”.

“He further admitted to recording another sex video in 2023, which he claimed to have sold to an American woman known as Naya, for an amount of $600, equivalent to GH¢6,500 at the time.

“One of the women featured in the videos, identified as Portia Ampofo, was also invited to the station for investigation,” the report added.

The police said that following the preliminary investigation, the suspect was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department for further enquiries.

Based on the facts established during the interview, the suspect was subsequently released on police enquiry bail while investigations continue.

The police also used the opportunity to warn the public against sharing explicit or offensive materials online, stressing that such actions violate Ghana’s laws.

“The police take this opportunity to caution the general public against posting obscene and other related materials online since that is against the laws of the land.

“The police will go all out to ensure that the Internet is safe for every Ghanaian,” the report said.
