Ghana’s Lali X Lola in the spotlight ahead of HoodTalk Music Festival

Ghana’s Lali X Lola in the spotlight ahead of HoodTalk Music Festival

Ghanaian music duo Lali X Lola are gaining renewed international attention following their latest feature on the BBC World Service, as momentum builds toward the highly anticipated HoodTalk Music Festival scheduled for September 5.

Their song Mad Over Me, produced in collaboration with Rappidd, was selected as Ghana’s entry on DJ Edu’s widely followed “10 in 10” segment on the programme This Is Africa.

The weekly feature highlights emerging music across the continent and continues to shape global exposure for Africa’s next wave of talent.

The duo’s inclusion places them among a new generation of African creatives making an impact beyond their home countries, while reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a hub for innovative sound and storytelling.

Rising profile

Lali X Lola’s growing international presence has been steadily building. From previous features on global media platforms to recognition at home, the duo continues to bridge music with social impact.

Earlier this year, they were honoured at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards with the Music for Good award for their breast cancer awareness initiative, “Crox It Out.” Their influence extends beyond music, positioning them as voices for youth advocacy and health awareness.

In May 2026, the duo were also named Global Ambassadors for the DreamChild Foundation, a move that further underscores their commitment to social development across Africa.

HoodTalk Festival

With their international recognition gaining momentum, attention is now shifting to the HoodTalk Music Festival, where Lali X Lola are expected to be among the standout acts.

The festival, set for September 5, is positioning itself as more than just a music event—it aims to become a launchpad for the future of Ghana’s creative industry.

By bringing together emerging stars, cultural influencers, and a youthful audience, HoodTalk is carving a space for authentic urban expression and next-generation talent.

Industry observers say the timing of the BBC feature could not be more significant, as it amplifies anticipation for the festival and highlights the calibre of artistes expected to take the stage.

Ghanaian music

As Ghanaian music continues to gain global traction, platforms like the BBC World Service and events like the HoodTalk Music Festival are playing complementary roles—one amplifying voices internationally, the other grounding the movement at home.

For Lali X Lola, the moment represents both recognition and responsibility: to carry Ghana’s sound to the world while inspiring a new wave of creatives locally.

With September 5 fast approaching, organisers say HoodTalk will deliver a festival experience that reflects the energy, diversity, and future direction of Ghanaian music.
