More than 260 women in Kenyasi in the Ahafo Region have received free breast cancer screening through a joint initiative by the Cancer Support Network Foundation, the Asutifi North District Hospital, and the Queen Mother of Kenyasi No. 1, Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Mrosa.
The outreach, held as part of this year’s breast cancer awareness campaign, aimed to promote early detection and provide education on preventive healthcare among women in the district.
Vice President of the Foundation, Eric Brobbey, told Adom News that initial examinations revealed that about 60 women may require further medical evaluation to determine possible cancer development and enable early treatment.
He noted that the Foundation is prepared to offer financial assistance to any woman diagnosed with the disease, just as it supported several patients in the region last year.
“The turnout this year has been remarkable compared to previous years. It shows that people are beginning to understand the importance of taking breast cancer screening seriously,” Mr. Brobbey said.
Board Secretary of the Foundation, Dr. Gabriel Asumeng, together with Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Mrosa, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting women battling breast cancer and encouraged residents to undergo regular medical checkups.
They emphasized that early detection remains the most effective tool in fighting the disease and urged women not to lose hope when diagnosed.
“Our goal is to remind women that a breast cancer diagnosis is not the end there is help, support, and hope,” Dr. Asumeng said.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Cancer Support Network Foundation to raise awareness and improve access to screening and treatment across Ghana.
